High ReliabilityWe have demonstrated in our test lab that our microchannel cold plates will perform without change for extended periods of time. For example, the chart shows the measured thermal performance for a cold plate that has been running continuously since March 2004. This cold plate sinks a heat flux of 100 W/cm ² using filtered water with small additions of corrosion inhibitor and algaecide. In particular, the chart plots the “core” resistivity which is the true measure of the local heat transfer from the walls of the microchannel to the flowing coolant. (The total resistivity would also include the sensible heating of the fluid – a direct function of flow rate.). For more than 8- ½ years, the core resistivity has remained stable, indicating no change to the geometry of the microchannel flow passages.
